HOUSTON -- It appears as though Patriots rookie defensive tackle Vincent Valentine will be good to go for Super Bowl LI.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the team did not make a roster move on Saturday. That seems to be an indication that Valentine, who popped up on the Patriots injury report with a back issue this week, will be healthy enough to take the field against the Falcons.
If the Patriots didn't like the way Valentine's back was progressing, they had the option of placing him on injured reserve, which would have freed up a roster spot to add practice-squad defensive linemen Woodrow Hamilton or Darius Kilgo.
Valentine has been the third man in on the defensive tackle rotation for the Patriots this season and played in 10 snaps in the AFC title game, checking in behind Alan Branch and Malcom Brown on the depth chart. Valentine missed three games earlier this season due to a back issue.
