Patriots coach Bill Belichick praised, of all things, Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick's willingness to throw a block in the days leading up the Week 12 matchup between division rivals. Tough quarterback, Belichick explained.
It was Belichick's signal-caller, though, who found himself leading the way for a running back at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
In the first quarter, during the Patriots' second drive, running back LeGarrette Blount reversed course when his running lane was cut off and soon found himself in Brady's wake. He rumbled behind Brady as Brady carefully avoided contact -- for some reason, Jets defenders avoided him as well -- leading to a 10-yard pick-up.
"You guys saw what happened when I got out in front of a running back," Brady told WEEI's Kirk and Callahan Show on Monday. "I can't do [crap]. I don't even know what to do when I'm out there. I'm looking around . . . I'm really a fish out of water when I'm out there . . . Things happen so fast. It's like you're on the highway. I'm never out there. It's a weird thing."
Brady went the extra mile to poke fun at himself later in the day when his Facebook page posted a video of the 39-year-old's audition for fullback James Develin's job.
