Tom Brady Sr.: Roger Goodell ‘doesn't belong on any stage' with Tom Brady

I talked to Tom Brady Sr. on Monday night about the AFC Championship Game and the Patriots heading back to another Super Bowl.

He said he’d try to find his happy place and not to eviscerate Roger Goodell before the Super Bowl. He said he’d try to channel that serenity that his son taps into and put the loathing and rage he feels over his kid’s scarred reputation in a mental box high on a closet shelf.

Didn’t work. He didn’t make it to the end of the week.

God bless him, though, Tom Sr. ain’t wrong. Speaking to a San Francisco TV station on Friday, Brady’s dad took a flamethrower to Goodell.

“What the league did to him and what Roger Goodell constantly lied about is beyond reprehensible,” said Brady Sr. (or the OTB, which stands for Original Tom Brady). “As far as I’m concerned. He went on a witch hunt and got in way over his head and had to lie his way out numerous ways. The reality is Tommy never got suspended for deflating footballs, he got suspended because the courts said that Roger Goodell could do anything he wanted to do to any player for any reason whatsoever. That’s what happened. The NFL admitted they had no evidence on him. It should be an honor because somebody that has Roger Goodell’s ethics doesn’t belong on any stage that Tom Brady is on.”

I’ve easily written 100,000 words on Deflategate. That’s as clean a summation as you can muster.
