Vollmer out, Spikes doubtful for Sunday

FOXBORO -- Linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee) and offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (backfoot) were the only two Patriots players missing from Friday's sweats and shells practice on the Gillette Stadium field, and Vollmer was later ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts.

Vollmer missed Thursday's practice and Wednesday's walkthrough, while Spikes was present at Wednesday's walkthrough with limited participation, but was also absent from Thursday's practice session. Spikes is listed as doubtful.

Offensive lineman Ryan Wendell has had limited participation this week with a calf injury. During the stretching session at the beginning of Friday's practice, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was loudly expressing his dismay with Wendell's poor attempt at a leg stretch.

"You need to stretch more than anybody out here!" yelled Belichick. "You didn't even grab your expletive leg!"
