FOXBORO - One of the best stories of the Patriots' storybook season, running back Danny Woodhead, took a sideways jolt Sunday when he suffered what appears to be a concussion after being jolted by Miami defensive tackle Kendall Langford on a first-quarter carry. Woodhead fumbled on the play, snapping the Patriots' streak of seven games without a turnover.
He didn't return to the game, and the team announced it was a "head" injury. He didn't speak to the media afterwards per orders of the team, though he was in the locker room and told reporters informally that he felt all right.Woodhead finished the season with a team-record yards-per-attempt average of 5.68 yards (551 yards on 97 rushes). The previous record, with a mininum of 90 attempts, was 5.59, set by Don Calhoun (129 attempts for 721 yards) in 1976.
