Paille's luck finally turns

PHILADELPHIA -- Daniel Paille knew that his string of bad luck had to turn around at some point.
It looks thats happened since returning from a mild concussion, as the fourth-line winger has been a force on the penalty kill and during five-on-five play while providing opportunistic offense.
Paille spearheaded a penalty kill crew that stomped out six Philadelphia power plays and contributed a goal in Bostons 6-0 shellacking of the Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday afternoon.
Pailles goal was his third in the last two games, and it forced Flyers coach Peter Laviolette to call an early game timeout while the Broad Street Bullies were simply attempting to gain their bearings. Paille played 12:56 of ice time, including a healthy 3:34 shorthanded, and was rewarded with the goal by simply attacking the net while hunting for rebounds.
He has the ability with his speed to make a difference with that line or on the penalty kill. Now hes making things happen because his confidence is high, said coach Claude Julien. Hes a guy that can change a game and hes been doing that a lot lately.
So now Paille has three goals and a plus-3 along with six shots on net in his three games since coming back from the concussion, and seems to be playing like a forward with nothing to lose. Some of the goals arrive like his second score against the Sens earlier this week when he boldly pulled up and fired away with a sizzling slap shot on a two-on-1 breakaway. But many more arrived like Saturday afternoons sixth goal of the seasona pure workmanlike tally that resulted from Paille using his speedtenacity combination to storm the goal mouth and fire pucks at the net.
Thats the reckless abandon a fourth-liner needs to be effective and its exactly what made Julien hustle to get both Paille and Shawn Thornton back on the fourth line together when it appeared Gregory Campbell was going to miss some time. Thats a pure indicator of effectiveness and trust from the coaching staff when their line does get called with the game on the line, and Paille just keeps on responding.
