The Patriots placed cornerback Ras-I Dowling on injured reserve Friday with a thigh injury.
Dowling played in six games this season, recording seven tackles.
The Patriots drafted Dowling in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, but he has only played in eight regular season games since then, recording ten tackles.
The second-year player was put on IR last season as well with a hip injury.
