Garoppolo still helping Pats: 49ers beat Jaguars, giving N.E. a first-round bye

Jimmy Garoppolo is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Jimmy G. threw two touchdown passes and ran for a TD himself as he led the 49ers to a 44-33 victory over the Jaguars -- who entered the game having allowed the fewest points and yards passing in the NFL, while recording the most sacks -- on Sunday, and it was a win that greatly benefitted New England.

Jacksonville's loss enabled the Pats to clinch a first-round bye in the upcoming AFC playoffs. New England, now 12-3, needs one more victory or one more Pittsburgh loss to clinch the top overall seed, but, regardless, the Patriots won't have to play on wild-card weekend.

Thanks to Garoppolo and the 49ers.
