Josh Gordon is getting a Super Bowl ring from Patriots, per report

Josh Gordon didn't start or end his season with the New England Patriots, but he still can put "Super Bowl champion" on his resume.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft plans to give Gordon a Super Bowl ring for the wide receiver's contributions to the team, ESPN's Mike Reiss reported Sunday.

Gordon was suspended indefinitely in late December for violating the terms of his reinstatement under the substance abuse policy, meaning he missed the Patriots' entire playoff run and wasn't with the team when it defeated the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII.

But Gordon still played in 11 of New England's 16 games since joining the club in September via trade from the Cleveland Browns. He finished third on the Patriots with 720 receiving yards and added 40 catches with three touchdowns.

The NFL pays for 150 Super Bowl rings for the winning team, but teams can decide who those rings go to or purchase extra rings if they wish.

The Patriots gave wide receiver Michael Floyd a Super Bowl ring following the 2016 season even though the wideout spent less than a month with the team, so it's not surprising to see them hook Gordon up.

The 27-year-old receiver, who technically is under contract with New England and reportedly could apply for reinstatement in May, was supportive of the Patriots from afar during their Super Bowl run, posting congratulations and well wishes to the team on social media.
