Patriots decline 2019 options for Shelton, Brown, and Dorsett

The Patriots turned down the 2019 options of DT Danny Shelton, DT Malcom Brown, and WR Phillip Dorsett on Wednesday. All three players were selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Shelton, picked 12th overall by the Browns in the draft, was acquired by New England in March via trade. Dorsett had only 12 catches for 194 yards after the Patriots traded away QB Jacoby Brissett to the Colts for him. Brown was a Patriots draft pick and started 37 games in his first three seasons.

Of course, the Patriots still could choose to extend any of them before they hit free agency. If so, Brown seems like the most logical option given his last three seasons in New England.
