Report: Belichick ‘sees opening' to coach Giants

Could the unfolding Patriots drama send Bill Belichick south?

As in down I-95 to the New York Giants?

“I’m sure Bill knows this is his last chance to be the Giants coach,” a source close to Belichick told the New York Daily News' Gary Myers on Friday. “Bill sees an opening – an opening to get to the Giants.”

Here's Myers' story, which includes such gibes as: Maybe his pal the president will even give him an apartment in Trump Tower.

The Daily News gave it the back page treatment:

Belichick, of course, was a Giants assistant and defensive coordinator from 1979-90 under Bill Parcells and won two Super Bowls in New York. And he still has plenty of affection for the organization. In an NFL Films documentary on him, there's a moment where he visits old Giants Stadium for a final time and the normally stoic coach becomes misty-eyed, saying: “This is a great organization...I was just trying to establish my coaching career. Be a good coach. Win some games. It’s hard not to get choked up about it.”
