Sherman meets with 49ers, Lions reportedly next

Free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman, released by the Seattle Seahawks Friday, wasted little time in seeking out a new team.

Sherman, who turns 30 on March 30, met with the San Francisco 49ers on Friday and Saturday and is going to meet with the Detroit Lions - coached by former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia - next week.

The Patriots reportedly inquired about a trade for Sherman last offseason, according to the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe, who said earlier this week on Early Edition that the perennial Pro Bowl corner "absolutely wants to play for the Patriots."
