Tennessean columnist Joe Rexrode acknowledges the Patriots greatness but, in a familiar refrain, also calls them out as cheaters.
Rexrode joked in a tweet that it's part of "Pro Football Writers guidelines" to bring up the Pats' cheating. And he then lets New England, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have it with rehashes of Spygate and Deflategate as he prepares Titans fans for their team's trip to the "NFL's Death Star" in the Divisional Round playoff matchup Saturday.
The Patriots are great. Also, cheaters. And both can be true. A reminder as the Titans prepare for a trip to the NFL's Death Star. https://t.co/nk25XB1Azx— Joe Rexrode (@joerexrode) January 11, 2018
Two thoughts. One, I believe Pro Football Writers guidelines dictate Boston media must trash opponent in divisional round and media covering opponent must bring up Pats cheating. Two, percentage of Pats fans who unload on me without actually reading that column? I'll say 93 pct.— Joe Rexrode (@joerexrode) January 11, 2018
Here's his first two paragraphs:
Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. And a cheater.
Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. And probably a cheater.
You can kinda guess how it goes on from there...Maybe that 93 percent estimate is a little low.
