Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz have been around Johnny Pesky for years, and grew close to the Red Sox legendary player, manager, coach, and everything else. They talk about what he meant to them and reflect on times spent with him.
"I started out struggling my rookie year and Johnny was always around," Pedroia said. "He used to stay in the dugout during the games at that time and he could see some frustrattion and stuff that I would have and he would always tell me, 'Hey stay positive keep going, and keep putting the work in because everyone struggles.' And he would always end it with a joke or something to make me laugh. And that was always helpful. He was awesome, man, and we're going to miss him."
