DENVER Paul Pierce, who suffered a twisted right ankle sprain in the fourth quarter of Boston's 25-point loss at Sacramento on Friday, will assume his usual spot in the starting lineup tonight.
Following the Kings loss, Pierce was hopeful that the ankle would not swell up and cause him to miss what would have been his fourth game of the season. He missed the first three games of the season with a bruised right heel injury.
And on Saturday, Pierce repeatedly told the media that it would be a game-time decision.
However, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said that Pierce would in fact be in the starting lineup tonight.
"Paul's good," Rivers said. "He'll start in play."
