Pietrus out until playoffs

MINNEAPOLISThe Boston Celtics have no timetable for Mickael Pietrus' return, but C's coach Doc Rivers doesn't believe he'll have the 6-foot-6 swingman back until the playoffs.

"I can't imagine it being any sooner," Rivers said.

Since Pietrus suffered a concussion on March 23 at Philadelphia, Rivers has had a handful of conversations with him.

Rivers said he received a text from Pietrus today, and last spoke with him a couple days ago.

"He was talking about (playing) next week," Rivers said. "He has a concussion; that's the way I looked at the conversation."

Pietrus will have to undergo a battery of league-mandated tests along with whatever exams the C's will have him take, prior to returning to action.

"I would think with the severity of that injury, we would be very happy if he could return by the playoffs," Rivers said.

While his injury was serious, it was not considered a season-ending injury.
