ROXBURY, MA (March 20, 2017) – Horizons for Homeless Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of young homeless children by ensuring they have access to early education and opportunities to play, today announced that it is partnering with CSN New England and the Boston Celtics for the fifth annual Horizons Week, a weeklong fundraising and homelessness awareness campaign.

As part of the campaign the week of March 20th, multiple public service announcements will air in heavy rotation on CSN New England as well as in-program integration and additional robust television coverage. Walmart will be the matching sponsor for home games held during the week.

“We are pleased to once again partner with Horizons for Homeless Children to garner awareness for this important cause,” said Princell Hair, SVP and General Manager of CSN New England. “Beginning today, we will use our network assets to highlight to our viewers the importance of early education for young, homeless children.”

“Youth homelessness is a troubling topic, and one that we are proud to take steps towards fighting,” Celtics Team President Rich Gotham said. “Teaming up and utilizing resources such as Horizons for Homeless Children and CSN New England allows us to not only address, but also raise awareness towards this ongoing issue.”

“When thinking about homelessness, many people don’t picture families with children – but over the past nine years, the number of homeless families has doubled in Massachusetts. In the city of Boston, 65% of the children in shelter are under the age of five,” said Kate Barrand, President and CEO of Horizons for Homeless Children. “That’s why it’s so critical to partner with such outstanding organizations like CSN New England and the Boston Celtics to help us spread the word about this issue. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to reach out to the local community to drive change.”

Each week, Horizons for Homeless Children improves the lives of 2,000 young homeless children in Massachusetts while working with their families to increase their economic and social well-being. Gifts can be made online by visiting www.horizonschildren.org/donate
