Red Sox beat Rays in third straight, 6-4

BOSTONThe Red Sox continued their weekend domination of the Rays, beating Tampa Bay 6-4 Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

David Ortiz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead the Red Sox offense. With his 4-for-5 performance Saturday, he has hit safely in seven straight at-bats with a home run and six RBI.

Cody Ross once again put his made-for-Fenway Park swing to work with a three-run homer in the second inning off Matt Moore. It was his second home run in as many at-bats after he his an eighth-inning two-run homer Saturday.

Mike Aviles led off the eighth with a home run, his second homer of the season.

Although the Rays outhit the Sox, 13-8, starter Felix Doubront, and relievers Scott Atchison, Vicente Padilla, Franklin Morales and Alfredo Aceves were able to hold Tampa Bay in check.

Padilla earned the win, his first of the season, with Moore taking the loss. Aceves earned his second save of the season.

The Sox will attempt a sweep of the four-game series in Monday mornings Patriots Day special.
