Report: No suspension for Capitals' Chimera

There will be no "justice" served if you were hoping that the Capitals' Jason Chimera would be hit with a suspension for his major hit on Adam McQuaid.

Brian McNally of the Washington Examiner reports that Chimera will get off with just the penalty he received during the game -- a five-minute boarding major and game misconduct.

McQuaid was skating along the boards behind the Bruins net during the first period when Chimera came full-speed ahead from the bench at him. While the hit was certainly intended to leave a mark, McQuaid magnified it by turning his back at the last second, becoming more vulnerable to the hit.

Once that happened just before Chimera's hit, there was nowhere for McQuaid's head to go but into the boards. Had McQuaid not turned his back, it most likely would have been a hard shoulder into the boards, and not the head.

Either way, coaches on both sides agreed after the game that the hit wasn't meant in a viscous way, and it looks as though the league agrees.
