According to a tweet by Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox are closing in on a deal for Chicago Cubs outfielder Marlon Byrd.
There has been talk is Chicago earlier this week about a potential deal that would have Byrd going to Boston.
The 34-year-old outfielder has been available "for months" but the Cubs have not found a suitable deal for the outfielder.
Byrd has hit .278 with 81 home runs and 438 RBI in his 11 year career.
