A spokesperson for the Best Buddies charity apologized to the Boston Globe on Saturday, a day after turning away one of the newspaper's photographers from a charity event with Tom Brady.

Spokesperson Nicole Maddox said the Globe's April 22 story about Brady's financial arrangement with the nonprofit that helps people with intellectual disablities had nothing to do with the photographer being escorted from the event at Harvard Stadium by security.

"I’m sorry that it happened,” said Nicole Maddox, a rep for Best Buddies International,. “It’s unfortunate that it happened. Tom Brady had nothing to do with it.”

Maddox said it was a result of a “misunderstanding” related to credentialing.

“It’s 100 percent not related [to the April 22 Globe story],” Maddox said. “We’re very sorry it happened.”
