Bobby Portis claims players knew about Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant's Brooklyn plan in February

We knew that Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were planning to play together months ago, but apparently a number of NBA players knew about the two heading to Brooklyn around the All-Star break.

Bobby Portis told The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov that everyone around the league but the media knew of Irving's intentions in February.

I knew what was gonna happen in February. We all knew that (Durant and Kyrie Irving would go to Brooklyn). Everybody knew that. I just don’t think the media knew that. Us basketball players, we all knew that.

Irving and Durant each signed max contracts with the Nets not too long after free agency opened on June 30, so it was pretty obvious that both of their minds were made up before last Sunday.

If Portis and a number of NBA players knew what was going to happen in the summer, how many of Irving's Celtics teammates knew as well?

The chemistry issues that plagued the team all year don't fall squarely on Irving, but if a good amount of Celtics players knew he was gone after the season ended, it could have had a lot to do with the team's tendency to unfold in the face of literally any shred of adversity.

We've yet to gather the full story of the 2018-19 Celtics, but as more comes to light, it becomes more clear why a team so talented never seemed to put it all together. And that's a real shame given the state of the Celtics' championship window right now.
