Terry: Rivers the ‘Belichick of basketball'

Share

Doc Rivers took advantage of his free Monday night by hitting up the Patriots-Texans game at Gillette Stadium.

But of course, he did it in style. Rivers chatted it up with Patriots coach Bill Belichick out on the fieldbut that's not all. Rivers also got a chance to sit in on an offensive meeting before the game.

"I love watching that team play," Rivers said. "I was telling our guys that today, just really awesome watching them: how they execute, how professional they are."

Players on the Celtics like Jason Terry see similarities in Rivers and Belichickmaybe not in personality so much, but certainly in game preparation and coaching.

"He's the Bill Belichick of basketball, because his execution, what he draws up in the timeouts, in practice, we go over it time and time again," Terry said. "There's a big emphasis on doing things the right way."
