It's looking like Las Vegas will be the new home of Strikeforce Challengers events.

On Friday, ESPN.com reported that Strikeforce Challengers 17 will "most likely" take place on July 22 at the Pearl Concert Theatre at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. NBCSports.com has confirmed that report.

Furthermore, sources have also confirmed that Strikeforce, which has never held an event in Nevada since launching in 2006, is looking at holding all Strikeforce Challengers in the foreseeable future at the Palms in Las Vegas. Depending on the configuration, the venue can hold anywhere between 1,000 to 2,500 fans.

As of last of month, Strikeforce had yet to apply for a promoter's license from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The move would make since considering the fact that Zuffa held many WEC, as well as smaller UFC shows, at the Pearl in the past.

Much like UFC Fight Nights, the Challengers events serve as a platform for Strikeforce to showcase some of its younger stars.

Strikeforce Challengers 16 takes place June 24 in Kent, Wash.
