Bears named world's 16th most valuable franchise

While Chicago is divided between CubsSox for most of the summer, the Bears have always been the team that unites the third-largest city in America.

That helps explain why the Bears were named the 16th most valuable sports team in the world by Forbes.

The McCaskey family's franchise is valued at 1.09 million. Ticket prices average out to 95 a pop, which is fifth in the NFL, behind only the Jets, Patriots, Giants and Cowboys.

Three of those teams -- the Cowboys, Patriots and Giants -- cracked the Top 10 on the list. The Washington Redskins came in at fifth, with a value of 1.56 billion.

Despite the fact that seven NFL teams were rated more valuable than Chicago, Bears fans can take solace in the fact that the Packers fell in at No. 17, one spot behind Lovie Smith's squad.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and the New York Yankees hold the top three spots on the list. All 32 NFL teams made cut.
