Bears opener could land Colts owner in a spot of trouble

The 2012 season is still more than two months away and already the Bears have helped on NFL owner get into trouble with the league. Sort of.

The Bears are 10-point favorites at home against Indianapolis in game one. Colts owner and inveterage tweeter Jim Irsay posted on his twitter account (@JimIrsay) to that effect and expressed his hope that Colts fans would make the trip up.

The league won't like that reference to the point spread, as Mike Florio noted on ProFootballTalk.com, even though the NFL has more than a wink-wink relationship with gambling.

What will be worth watching is how or if the spread moves based on how Andrew Luck performs in the Colts' preseason. And how the Bears' defense does. One commenter to Mike's story questioned whether the Colts would even score 10 points.
