Cal transfer and Chicago native Charlie Moore picks Kansas, not Illini

Illinois was reportedly in the mix for Charlie Moore, but the Chicago native and Cal transfer will be playing for a former Illini coach instead of the current one.

Moore, a Morgan Park product who spent just one season at Cal before announcing his intent to transfer, landed at Kansas, where he will play for former Illinois head coach Bill Self.

Moore was Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois just last year and wanted to transfer away from the Golden Bears to be closer to his ailing father.

It was reported last week that Illinois and Kansas were the two likeliest landing spots for Moore.

Moore was ranked by Rivals as the No. 55 recruit in the Class of 2016. He picked Cal over Illinois and plenty of other offers, and as a true freshman last season he started 34 games and averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists per game.

Illinois is reportedly still in the mix for Kansas transfer Carlton Bragg Jr., a big man from Cleveland who averaged 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 13.8 minutes a game as a sohpomore this past season.
