Newkirk will sit out the 2015-16 season per NCAA transfer rules, but when he hits the court the following season, he should provide Tom Crean's team with depth at the point guard position.

Indiana will lose senior point guard Yogi Ferrell after this season, and Newkirk will provide some veteran experience after two seasons in the ACC. He'll have two years of eligibility remaining.

Newkirk averaged 4.6 points per game his freshman season and 5.9 points per game last season with the Panthers. He appeared in 70 games the past two seasons, starting four last season.
