A noteworthy addition is reportedly coming to Brad Underwood's staff at Illinois.

Multiple reports Wednesday indicated that former South Florida head coach and former John Calipari assistant Orlando Antigua will join Underwood's staff as an assistant coach with the Illini.

While Antigua's tenure at South Florida was not a success — an ugly 23-55 record overall and an even nastier 7-30 conference mark in two seasons plus 13 games this past season before his firing — it's his time at Kentucky that has the internet buzzing.

Antigua spent six seasons under Calipari at both Memphis and Kentucky, part of three Final Four trips in four seasons between 2011 and 2014. While Antigua was at Kentucky, the Wildcats recruited the best high school talent in the country, Calipari's staff earning commitments from the likes of Brandon Knight, Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Marquis Teague, Willie Cauley-Stein, Nerlens Noel, Alex Poythress, Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Dakari Johnson, Julius Randle and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Antigua has also served as an assistant under Jamie Dixon at Pittsburgh, been the head coach of the Dominican Republic national team and played for the Harlem Globetrotters.

There is some controversy following Antigua from his time at South Florida. The NCAA is investigating the program for academic reasons, and Antigua's brother resigned as an assistant coach after the announcement of the investigation.

Still, the reported hire is earning rave reviews, not surprising considering Antigua's recruiting success at one of college basketball's most powerful programs.

For an Illinois program that's had so many recruiting misses in recent seasons under John Groce, the arrival of a big-time recruiter could make for a significant change.
