Michigan first football program to team with Michael Jordan's brand

Michael Jordan's Jordan brand is a Nike subset typically reserved for hoops.

Not anymore.

Michigan will become the first football team outfitted by Jordan when the school's massive Nike contract kicks in at the start of the 2016 season.

Jordan himself welcomed the Wolverines to the family with this video:

The Michigan basketball team will also wear Jordan brand uniforms and gear.

The deal with Nike was announced last month, and later reports unveiled that the deal could be worth up to $169 million, the biggest such deal in all of college athletics.

ESPN's Darren Rovell reported Thursday that Jordan called new Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh and asked for the Wolverines to wear his logo rather than the Nike swoosh.

So there you have it. Michigan is about to be the Michael Jordan of college football.
