Northwestern moves to 7-1 with win over SIU-Edwardsville

The Cats keep on cookin'.

Eight games into the season, Northwestern has seven wins, picking up the seventh on Saturday with an afternoon win over SIU-Edwardsville, 81-56.

The Cats shot 51.7 percent from the field, owned the rebounding battle, 45-31, and blocked a whopping 11 shots en route to the victory.

Northwestern limited SIU-Edwardsville to just 26 first-half points and held a 16-point scoring edge in the second half.

Three Cats were in double figures. Alex Olah finished with 21 points, also grabbing eight rebounds. Aaron Falzon scored 17 points and hit five 3-pointers. Bryant McIntosh had 11 points and handed out eight assists.

Nathan Taphorn had nine points on three made 3s. Tre Demps had seven points and seven assists. Joey van Zegeren blocked five shots and grabbed eight rebounds.

Northwestern improved to 7-1 on the campaign with the win, undefeated in five home games. The lone loss on the season came in a neutral-site showdown with a top-10 North Carolina team.

Next up for the Cats is a Dec. 13 game against Chicago State.
