Trevor Siemian is a starting quarterback in the NFL.

The Northwestern product was named the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback Monday, meaning a former Wildcat will be leading the offense for the defending Super Bowl champs.

Siemian was picked in the seventh round of last year's NFL Draft after his senior season in Evanston. As a senior, he threw for 2,214 yards and seven touchdowns.

In his four-year career at Northwestern, Siemian completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 5,931 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Siemian will become the third Northwestern quarterback to throw an NFL pass in this century. Brett Basanez played in one game in 2006, completing six passes for 56 yards. Mike Kafka appeared in four games during the 2011 season, completing 11 passes for 107 yards.

Siemian will become just the fifth Northwestern quarterback ever to start in an NFL game and the first since 1979, when Randy Dean started his third career game for the New York Giants.
