Nick VanHoose has played his final game as a Wildcat.
Northwestern’s senior defensive back will miss the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 with a finger injury, according to a report from Inside NU.
VanHoose, per the report, sustained a finger tendon injury when his finger got caught in a teammate’s jersey during practice last weekend.

VanHoose was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team by both coaches and media earlier this month.
He finished his senior season with 41 total tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble. He ranked fifth in the Big Ten with 15 passes defended, and one of his interceptions was taken back for a touchdown in Northwestern’s win over Nebraska.
VanHoose helped lead a Northwestern defense that ranks seventh in the country in scoring defense, 11th in total defense and 25th in pass defense.
