Three Illini football players arrested on charges of home invasion and armed robbery

A trio of Illinois football players were arrested on charges of home invasion and armed robbery.

The Champaign News-Gazette reports that sophomore-to-be offensive lineman Darta Lee, sophomore-to-be tight end Zarrian Holcombe and freshman-to-be offensive lineman HoJo Watkins Jr. were jailed after being arrested Wednesday morning.

There aren't many details on the alleged incident, which is still being investigated by police.

Lee played in six games last season and made a pair of starts, including in the season-opener. Holcombe played in seven games last season. Watkins enrolled early and will be a true freshman this fall after working out with the team this spring.
