Rivals has Moran ranked as a three-star recruit, one of the top 20 running backs in the country and the 14th-best player in the state.

According to a report from Illini Inquirer, Moran's exit from the Illini's recruiting class was expected and stemmed from academic issues.

Moran originally committed to Illinois under former head coach Tim Beckman. Beckman was fired a week before the start of the 2015 season, and interim head coach Bill Cubit was named the permanent head coach ahead of the team's final game against Northwestern.

With Moran out, the Illini's current top in-state commitment is Rockford athlete Juwuane Parchman, who Rivals ranks as the No. 19 player in the state.
