Corey Crawford's progress halted as return to ice remains unknown

Corey Crawford did not make his expected return to the ice this weekend, leaving questions as to when he might actually return to the Blackhawks lineup.

Joel Quenneville wouldn't call whatever happened to Crawford as a setback, but didn't dismiss the latest update as negative. All Crawford did was "light training" after the Blackhawks were hopeful he could get on the ice.

Quenneville said until Crawford is able to get back on the ice it "doesn't give us a clear idea of when he'll be able to play."

"We're still optimistic that he can get on later in the week," Quenneville said. "We're optimistic (that he can return at some point during the season."

That means he won't travel during the team's three-game road trip that includes stops in Nashville, Vancouver and Calgary. Crawford has been out since Dec, 23 when he was pulled against the New Jersey Devils.

Anton Forsberg and Jeff Glass have done the heavy lifting in net since then, but the Blackhawks are just 6-7-1 since then and are on the outside looking in at the postseason.
