Bears: Jay Cutler 50-50 for Raiders; Alshon Jeffery questionable

He was going through the warmup jogging and stretching like a regular Bear, he practiced on a limited basis as he has this week, and now Jay Cutler is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

The general air is that Cutler will be given another week (at least) to rest his strained hamstring, an injury that comes with considerable risk of making worse and adding substantial time to the recovery process if not fully healed.

The Bears will have 48 hours to monitor his progress, needing to see “just whether he’s healthy or not,” Bears head coach John Fox said. “As I mentioned yesterday, last week, every week is if they’re cleared to play medically, we’ll have them out there.”

Unofficial indicators are that Jimmy Clausen will make his second straight start, at least this time in front of a home crowd instead of the crucible that was CenturyLink Field against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Bears’ issues in the passing game are not restricted to the quarterback position, however.

Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery also was limited in practice but did less participation in work with the team and more off to the side, pointing to his likely missing the seventh of the Bears’ eight games this year, including the four preseason games. Jeffery, who had played in 35 straight games since missing Week 14 in 2012 with a knee injury, has been dealing with calf and hamstring injuries.
