There's a new addition at Halas Hall.

The Bears unveiled a statue in honor of George Halas on Sunday outside their practice facility in Lake Forest.

Former Bear Dick Butkus and chairman George McCaskey spoke at the unveiling and praised the Bears founder.

“I’m not sure what the statue is made out of, but I do know this: Whatever it is it’s not as strong nor as tough as George Halas was in the flesh," said Dick Butkus.

McCaskey added, "The contributions that George Halas has made, not just to American sport, but to American culture, this game that we all know and love so well was largely the handy work of George Halas."

There was a family debate on which direction the statue should be facing — toward or away from the building. Virginia McCaskey made the call for having Halas pointing away from the building to represent "let's go get 'em."
