NFL owners vote to move extra point back, defenses can score

It's a good day to have one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history.

The NFL announced Tuesday the passing of a rule that will move the line of scrimmage on extra points from the 2-yard-line to the 15-yard-line. Two-point conversions will remain at the 2-yard-line, but defenses now will have the opportunity to return a failed 2-point conversion for two points. Under the previous rules the play was dead as soon as the offensive team had failed on a two-point conversion or extra point.

As it pertains to the Bears, Robbie Gould had converted 370 of 373 career extra points, including the playoffs. He's the seventh most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history, connecting on 85.5 percent of his attempts.

So don't expect the move to 32 yards affect him too much. After all, he's a perfect 103-for-103 from 32 yards or less in his career.

The approved rule passed on a 20-2 vote, with only Washington and Oakland voting against.
