Patrick Kane featured on regional Sports Illustrated cover

Patrick Kane will grace the regional cover of this week's Sports Illustrated edition after seeking to become the first American-born player to win the Hart Trophy for league MVP and Art Ross Trophy for most points during the regular season.

With exactly one month left in the regular season, Kane leads the NHL with 89 points (a new career-high) and is on pace to finish the season with 109 points. The last player to do that was Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin, when he had that exact total in 2011-12.

Across a 10-page spread, SI’s S.L. Price chronicles the rise of Kane, from his emergence as a child prodigy to his dominance as the NHL’s leading scorer at age 27. Price also discusses the sexual assault allegations that consumed Kane’s off-season and how he has played through the scrutiny to turn in one of the best seasons of his career.
