The Blackhawks have brought three Stanley Cups to Chicago over the last six years, and now they're looking to bring a different kind of championship to the Windy City.

Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz has placed a bid to host the 2018 World Junior Championships in Chicago, reports Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.

Among the other potential hosts include Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Tampa Bay, which already submitted its bid.

It will mark the sixth time — first time since 2011 in Buffalo — that the United States will host the popular international tournament, which features some of the best players in the world under the age of 20. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Duncan Keith are among the many current Blackhawks and NHL players that have participated in years past.

The 2018 World Junior Championships will begin on Dec. 26, 2017 and end on Jan. 5, 2018, so it shouldn't interfere with the Blackhawks' regular-season schedule if it were to be held at the United Center.

Wirtz reportedly also expressed interest in hosting a future World Cup of Hockey.
