Blackhawks enjoy Las Vegas a little too much?

According to reports, the Blackhawks had an epic party at Lavo (in the Palazzo) Sunday night while enjoying some down time in Sin City. Their evening apparently included one rookie dressed in an Iron Man costume, a 6-liter bottle of champagne for 35,000 and the rookies picking up the bill. Of course, they then canceled practice the following morning. (lvrj.com)

Lovie Smith's job safe regardless of how Bears finish?

Based on recent comments by general manager Jerry Angelo, it seems Lovie Smith will be back as Bears head coach for at least one more season regardless of whether the team makes the playoffs or not.

The demands of being a head coach in the National Football League are great," Angelo told chicagobears.com "You only have to look at the attrition rate in the league, and its only escalating. So someone who can keep a team together and focused on the common goal given the rigors of what most teams go through during a season defines a leader to me, and thats one of the real attributes that Lovie brings as a head coach.

Keeping everyone on the same page, keeping their eyes fixed on the common goal and staying team-oriented. Its not a given; just look around the league. There are a lot of variables that come into play. (chicagobears.com)
