The Bulls have a busy offseason ahead, with decisions to be made on the future of several key role players. Omer Asik tops that list, and it appears the Bulls will have some competition for his services.

Sam Smith of Bulls.com reports the Celtics are one of the teams said to be considering a strong offer for the 7-footer, who has averaged 2.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in his two seasons in Chicago. Boston is in the market for a starting center, hoping the move would entice Kevin Garnett to re-sign and slide back to his natural position at power forward.

The Bulls and Asik can begin discussing a new contract July 1, the same day the league's 29 other teams can tender an offer. If Asik accepts an offer from another team, the Bulls will have the opportunity to match it. Bulls GM Gar Forman says retaining the reserve center is a top priority.

"Omer is very, very important to us," Forman told Bulls.com. "We see him as a key piece of our team moving forward. We think he's shown the potential to continue to improve. We're looking forward to getting a chance to sit down with him on July 1. But it's certainly our intention to have Omer Asik in a Chicago Bulls uniform long term."
