Deng proud to represent Africa at All-Star game

Bulls small forward Luol Deng, a native of Sudan, took a moment to honor his home country while being introduced at his first All-Star game Sunday. Deng sported a black shirt with Africa printed on it.

"When my name was called and I had my T-shirt on, it meant a lot to me," Deng said. "It's something that I felt great while I was doing it and I'm sure there's a lot of kids back home who saw that and got a big smile on their faces, so I think that made my day."

Deng is only the third African-born player to earn a spot on an All-Star team, joining centers Hakeem Olajuwon and Dikembe Mutombo.

"I appreciate the fact that I'm in the position I'm in to do so. There's only been Hakeem Olajuwon and Dikembe Mutombo and both were big men. Being a perimeter player, it hasn't happened before and I just felt like, I didn't want the kids just to see it and just go by, I just wanted them to remember where I came from and get something out of it."

Deng only played six minutes, scoring zero points with one assist. You can watch all of what Deng had to say after the game below:
