Lauri Markkanen's summer league debut included botched jersey

It's summer league for the equipment staff as well apparently.

Lauri Markkanen, the Bulls' first-round pick in June's draft, and the Bulls played their first summer league game in Las Vegas on Saturday. Markkanen scored 14 points and had eight rebounds in a 91-75 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, but his performance may not be what stands out from the game.

The No. 24 jersey he was wearing spelled his name wrong. Instead of Markkanen, the second a and the e got swapped so it incorrectly read: Markkenan. Oops.

Markkanen told Nick Friedell of ESPN Chicago that he noticed the misspelling right when he got the jersey at the hotel.

"I didn't know who to tell," Markkanen said. "I just went out there and guys noticed it."

Markkanen added that he got a corrected jersey in the third quarter, but didn't want to change on the bench.

The Bulls tweeted out a few highlights from his performance:

All five Bulls starters scored in double figures. In additions to Markkanen's 14 points, Denzel Valentine had 12 points, Cameron Payne and Kris Dunn had 11 each and Paul Zipser scored 10. Nikola Jovanovic had 11 points off the bench on 5-for-5 shooting.
