Nash winds up with Kobe in L.A.

Since free agency began, it looked as though All-Pro point guard Steve Nash was either headed to Toronto as a free agent signing or part of a sign-and-trade deal with the New York Knicks.

But in a move that seemingly came out of nowhere, Nash is now on his way to Los Angeles to team up with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

According to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic, the Suns will receive 2013 and 2015 first-round draft picks and 2013 and 2014 second-round draft picks.

Nash reportedly turned down more money from the Raptors, and according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears, Nash will make a guaranteed 27 million over three years.

Early in the off-season, before free agency began, Nash had been linked to the Bulls, but Chicago's tight financial flexibility never made it a real option for Nash.

The move is helpful to the Bulls in one sense. Nash had been rumored to only Eastern Conference teams (New York, Toronto, Miami) before the Lakers entered the picture and snatched the active assists leader up.
