After spending four years as head coach at Utah, Boylen returned to the NBA to be a part of Frank Vogel's staff with the Pacers from 2011-2013 before heading to San Antonio to join Gregg Popovich. Boylen was the second assistant for the Spurs and Popovich behind Ettore Messina.
