If it seems like NBA free agents cashed in in a massive way this offseason, you're right.

With the NBA salary cap set to increase in unprecedented form - $69 million to $81 million - next season, and potentially $100 million in the next few seasons, NBA teams were more willing to hand out enormous contracts to their star players to make sure they were locked up for when that time came.
