Fan hit in head by foul ball in Cubs game released from hospital

The fan who was hit in the head by a foul ball Monday night during the Cubs-Pirates game was released from the hospital Tuesday, according to a Pirates press release.

The woman was struck by a Starlin Castro foul ball as he led off the top of the second inning. She was standing at the netting behind home plate with her back turned away from the action. The injury led to a 23-minute delay as the fan received treatment and was placed on a stretcher. The fan was conscious and taken to a hospital for examination.
