There was so much offense from the two Chicago baseball teams on Thursday that you may have needed a calculator to total it all up.
The White Sox began the day with a 17-7 throttling of the Tigers in Detroit. The Cubs followed up with a 14-6 hammering of the Mets in Wrigley.
Those were the two highest run totals in baseball on the day. The White Sox mashed a stunning 25 hits while the Cubs had an impressive seven extra base hits (five doubles and two home runs).
The Cubs offense was in a slumber when the team got swept by the Brewers, but broke out in the sweep of the Mets.
To have both offenses break out the lumber at this rate on the same day is an unprecedented feat.
